Polymer marker band vs Metal marker band

Marker bands are used for catheter tracking under fluoroscopy during minimally invasive intravascular procedures. A traditional maker band usually made from gold or platinum using precise assembly between dissimilar materials. AP Technologies’ marker band uses tungsten filled polymer such as nylons, urethanes and thermoplastic elastomers with up to 80% tungsten loadings for optimum radiopacity. Advanced co-extrusion technology is applied during the whole process to make sure the tungsten filler is perfectly integrated into the catheter.
